Five Steps to a More Romantic Valentine's Evening

Most restaurants are usually overcrowded on Valentine's Day.  A less stressful and more romantic evening can be spent at home.   Here are five steps to a more romantic Valentine's evening.

1.  Don't cook.  Instead, stop by your favorite store and pick up an already prepared salad, roasted chicken, veggies and dessert.  Whole Foods actually has a large variety of already prepared foods if you have one near your work or home.

2.  Set the backdrop.  Select several songs to listen to of your favorite music performers.  Turn the player on to shuffle play.  The surprise of not knowing which song will play adds to the enjoyment.

3.  Create the atmosphere.  Light the fireplace, if you have one, to toast some marshmallows to share.  Otherwise, dim the lights and light some candles.

4.  Prepare the mood.  Make sure you have a bottle of your favorite bubbly of champagne or sparkling apple cider to sip.  As you toast to the evening read to each other a few pages from a romance novel.  Exchange the character's names for your own to add a more personal touch.  If you don't have a book to read from, take turns reading aloud the cards you have given to one another.  If all else fails, try to think of three compliments you can give to each other.  Hearing a compliment makes us all feel appreciated.

5.  Did I say five?  Well, the next step is now in your hands...Amour

A Fall Garden

Summer is beginning to leave us or has already left us according to the calender. The Fall is here. Time to prune those plants that were thriving all summer. Fertilize, weed and plant flowers that will add a change of scenery to our gardens. The colors of Fall are so vibrant against bluer skies that come along this time of year.

I have to admit that my planting skills are more suited to indoor gardening than outdoor. I don't particularly like digging up dirt and perhaps coming across worms or insects. If I could I would have a garden filled with flowers all year round. Maybe at some point, I'll be able to hire a gardener that will do all that for me. In the meantime, I'll stick to houseplants.

This Gardener's Delight gift basket is ideal for anyone who has been cutting grass, pruning or mulching. A wonderful assortment of bath products to soothe aching muscles. It has an almanac that can be used as a reference guide for what to plant and at what time of year to plant them.

Happy Gardening,
